"Musée fantastique de la Bête du Gévaudan" ... Bête de Gévaudan museum

Musée fantastique de la bête du Gévaudan

60 km South of Brioude.

From 1764 to 1767, la Bête de Gévaudan frightened the region and was the topic of conversation of the Court of Versailles. It is still spoken of in Saugues, and the film "Le Pacte des Loups" was inspired by this event. The atmosphere of fear and terror, brought on by this beast, that would kill and devour only women and children, is made vivid through the 22 motioned human sculptures.
