A medieval village : Lamothe

The imposing structure of the medieval castle of Lamothe, witnessing the importance of the borough and Brivadois history, overlooks the plain Allier river. It was located near a port from which the renowned "sapinières" sailed off to Paris and Nantes and supplied them with the Royal Navy masts. Up to the 17 th century, it ranked 14 th "good town of Auvergne ".
